Fruit Trees. We plant many types of fruit trees including cherry, peach, apple, fig, persimmon, apple, loquats, plum, pear, banana, orange trees, blackberries, muscadine, grapefruit, blueberries, pears, dates, and much more. Certain varieties are native Texas fruit trees, but you don’t have to plant species that are native. There are many types of fruit trees that can thrive in our Zone 9 climate. We can work with you to find fruit trees to install in your front or backyard so your family can enjoy nature’s bounty every fruiting season.

Nut Trees. There are a variety of nut trees native to Texas including pecan, pistachio, walnut, and chestnut trees.  Almond trees are not suited for our humid climate, nor are macadamia because of their sensitivity to freezing temperatures. The pecan tree is Texas’ state tree and our favorite recommendation for customers who want to plant nut trees. Pecan trees are well suited to thrive in our climate, providing plentiful heaves of pecans each year.

Shade Trees. The shade tree our customers ask us to plant most is the Live Oak tree, but we also like to recommend planting other shade tree varieties native to the Texas Gulf Coast like Nuttal Oak, Shumard Oak, or Post Oak trees. The River Birch is a beautiful shade tree option that is fast-growing and thrives in our moist soil.

Palm Trees. There are two kinds of palm trees native to Texas; the Mexican palmetto and dwarf palm. Although native palm trees are a safe bet, there are many other types well suited for our climate. The Mediterranean fan palm, sago palm, Mazari palm, and McCurtain dwarf palmetto are other varieties we install and manage.

Stone Fruit Trees. Certain stone fruit trees native to Texas include plums, nectarines, and peaches. Stone fruit trees are vulnerable to insects but with proper pest control, fertilization, and pruning your trees can thrive.

Citrus Trees. The citrus tree planting service our customers request most often is orange tree installation. There are many types of citrus trees that can grow well in the Katy and Houston area including oranges (satsuma mandarin, tangerines, and tangelos), lemon, lime, and red grapefruit. Each variety has specific spacing, soil, and fertilization needs so we recommend hiring professional fruit tree experts for pest control and maintenance.

Flowering Trees. Plant a flowering tree you can enjoy through the spring and summer like the ever popular Redbud Tree or Vitex (aka Texas Lilac). Other popular trees that grow ornamental flowers include magnolias, crepe myrtles, desert willow, oleanders, jacaranda, mountain laurel, and knockout roses.
